Pentecost Novena and Octave Prayers in Honor of the Holy Ghost |
Our Mother of Perpetual Help |
O Divine Jesus, during this Novena in honor of Thy Most Sacred Heart we commend unto Thee the petitions and intentions which have been placed upon the altar, that they may be granted as they are in accord with Thy Divine Will and for the good of souls. We further commend to Thy Sacred Heart our Bishop, Clergy, and Religious, all the lay members of our Community, all of our Fatima Cell members and Crusaders, and all of our benefactors and those for whom we are bound to pray. Inflame our hearts with the fire of Divine Love that we may grow daily in charity, piety, humility, love of God and one another. Send to us many pious, obedient, and devout vocations to assist us in our work for souls. Give to our Priests and Religious hearts patterned after Thine own. Make the lives of our families abound in holiness and piety. Protect and defend our Community and all the members of the Remnant Catholic Church against the attacks of our spiritual enemies, and confound the diabolical machinations of the legions of Hell. Console the sick, the dying, and those who are in anguish. Give to our youth a generous heart and a burning love of their holy Catholic Faith. Have mercy upon the Poor Souls in Purgatory, and grant to each of us the grace of final perseverance. Preserve us from all division, dissension and disunity and make us all to be of one heart, of one mind, and of one soul in Thee.
Sweet Heart of Jesus, we place our trust in Thee;
make us Thine own in time and in eternity. Amen.

V. Jesus, meek and humble of Heart;
R. Make our hearts like unto Thine.
Let us Pray:
Almighty and everlasting God, look upon the Heart of Thy well beloved Son and upon the praise and satisfaction which He offers unto Thee in the name of sinners; and do Thou of Thy great goodness grant them pardon when they seek Thy mercy, in the name of the same Thy Son, Jesus Christ, Who liveth and reigneth with Thee forever, unto ages of ages. Amen.
Adorable Heart of Jesus, glowing with love for us and inflamed with zeal for our salvation, O Heart ever sensible of our misery and the wretchedness to which our sins have reduced us, infinitely rich in mercy to heal the wounds of our souls, behold us humbly prostrate before Thee to express the sorrow that fills our hearts for the coldness and indifference with which we have so long requited the numberless benefits Thou hast conferred upon us. With a deep sense of the outrages heaped upon Thee by our sins and the sins of others, we come to make a solemn reparation of honor to Thy most Sacred Majesty. It was our sins that overwhelmed Thy Heart with bitterness; it was the weight of our iniquities that pressed down Thy face to the earth in the Garden of Olives and caused Thee to expire in anguish and agony on the Cross. But now repenting and sorrowful, we cast ourselves at Thy Feet and implore forgiveness. Adorable Heart of Jesus, source of true contrition and ever merciful to the penitent sinner, impart to our hearts the spirit of penance, and give to our eyes a fountain of tears, that we may sincerely bewail our sins now and for the rest of our days. O would that we could blot them out even with our blood. Pardon them, O Lord, in Thy mercy, and pardon and convert to Thee all that have committed irreverences and sacrileges against Thee in the Sacrament of Thy love, and thus give another proof that Thy mercy is above all Thy works. Divine Jesus, with Thee there is mercy and plentiful redemption. Deliver us from our sins. Accept the sincere desire we now entertain and our holy resolution, relying on the assistance of Thy grace, henceforth to be faithful to Thee. And in order to repair the sins and ingratitude by which we have grieved Thy most tender and loving Heart, we are resolved in the future ever to love and honor Thee in the most adorable Sacrament of the Altar, where Thou art ever present to hear and grant our petitions and to be the food and life of our souls. Be Thou, O compassionate Jesus, our Mediator with Thy heavenly Father, Whom we have so grievously offended. Strengthen our weakness; confirm our resolutions of amendment. And as Thy Sacred Heart is our refuge and our hope when we have sinned, so may It be the strength and support of our repentance, that nothing in life or death may ever again separate us from Thee. Amen.
O sweetest Jesus! Whose overflowing charity for men is requited by so much forgetfulness, negligence and contempt, behold us prostrate before Thine altar, eager to repair by a special act of homage the cruel indifference and injuries to which Thy loving Heart is everywhere subject.
Mindful, alas, that we ourselves have had a share in those great indignities, which we now deplore from the depths of our hearts, we humbly ask Thy pardon and declare our readiness to atone by voluntary expiation, not only for our own personal offenses, but also the sins of those who, straying far from the path of salvation, refuse in their obstinate infidelity to follow Thee, their Shepherd and Master, or who, renouncing the vows of their Baptism, have cast off the sweet yoke of Thy law.
We are now resolved to expiate each and every outrage committed against Thee; we are determined to make amends for the manifold offenses against Christian modesty in unbecoming dress and behavior, for all the foul seductions laid to ensnare the feet of the innocent, for the frequent violation of Sundays and Holydays, and the shocking blasphemies uttered against Thee and Thy saints. We wish also to make reparation for the insults to which Thy Vicar on earth and Thy priests are subjected; for the profanation, by conscious neglect or terrible acts of sacrilege, of the very Sacrament of Thy Divine Love; and lastly for the public crimes of nations who resist the rights and the teaching authority of the One, True Church which Thou hast founded.
Would, O Divine Jesus, that we were able to wash away such abominations with our blood. We now offer, in reparation for these violations of Thy Divine honor, the satisfaction Thou didst once make to Thine Eternal Father on the Cross, and which Thou dost continue daily on our altars; we offer it in union with the acts of atonement of Thy Virgin Mother, of all the saints, and of Thy pious faithful on earth; and we sincerely promise to make recompense, as far as we can with the help of Thy grace, for all neglect of Thy great love and for the sins we and others have committed in the past. Henceforth we will live a life of unwavering faith, of purity, of spotless conduct, of perfect observance of the precepts of the Gospel, especially that of charity. We promise to the best of our power to prevent others from offending Thee, and to bring as many as possible to follow Thee.
O loving Jesus, through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our model in reparation, deign to receive the voluntary offering we make of this act of expiation; and by the crowning gift of perseverance keep us faithful unto death in our duty and the allegiance we owe to Thee, so that we may all one day come to that happy home, where Thou with the Father and the Holy Ghost, livest and reignest, God, forever, unto ages of ages. Amen.
Hail, Heart worthy of Divine homage; I adore Thee in profoundest reverence, lost in admiration of Thy surpassing excellence and infinite love. For Thou art the Heart of the Son of Mary, the Heart formed by the Holy Ghost, the sanctuary of God Incarnate. I salute Thee, O most Sacred Heart of Jesus, worthy throne of the holy soul of Jesus, seat of the majesty and glory of God, abyss of all virtue and holiness. Thou art the Heart in which alone the Father is well pleased, the source of our salvation, the fountain of all grace and happiness. O Divine Heart of infinite mercy! Thou art the symbol of the infinite love of the Son of God for us poor children of men. Thou lovest us to excess, O compassionate Heart! Love of us urged Thee to die for us, to become a victim, a holocaust of love. Love impelled Thee to give Thyself entirely to us in the Blessed Sacrament, and makes Thee a prisoner on our altars. O Jesus, through a miracle of love, Thou givest me in the Holy Eucharist, Thy Sacred Heart as a nourishment for my soul, and as a pledge of Thy love. With fervent gratitude, I thank Thee for Thy tender love, and for all the graces that flow to us from Thy magnanimous Heart, the living fountain of salvation. Accept my humble adoration to repair the insults offered Thee by the sins of mankind, and in Thy mercy, pour out upon us the treasures of Thy love. With the desire to make this devotion more acceptable, I unite it with Thy love and merits, even with Thine own Sacred Heart. Heart of Jesus in the most Blessed Sacrament, burning with love of us, inflame our hearts with love of Thee. May the Heart of Jesus in the most Blessed Sacrament be praised, adored, and loved with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time. Amen.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Thee to adore Thee, to praise Thee, to thank Thee, to repair our past offenses and to consecrate ourselves to Thy Love. Remembering Thy Divine promises and those of Thy most Immaculate Mother, we say to Thee with the utmost confidence:
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, give us all the graces necessary in our state of life. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, establish peace in our homes.
Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, comfort us in all our afflictions.
Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, be our secure refuge during life, and above all in death. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, bestow abundant blessings upon all our undertakings. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may sinners find in Thy Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may tepid souls become fervent. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, may fervent souls quickly mount to high perfection. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, bless every place in which an image of Thy Sacred Heart and of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is exposed and honored.
Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, write in Thy Heart, never to be effaced, the names of those who promote devotion to Thy Sacred Heart and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, grant to those who go to Communion on the first Friday in nine consecutive months, and to those who make the five first Saturdays, the grace of final penitence; grant that they shall not die in Thy disgrace nor without receiving the Sacraments. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, reign in spite of Satan and of all the efforts of Thy enemies. Lord, Thou hast made us this promise.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we place in Thee all our confidence, fearing all things of our weakness and hoping all things in Thy kindness. Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, be the sole Object of our love, the Protector of our life, the Support of our weakness, the Remedy of our inconsistency, the Repairer of all our sins, the Assurance of our salvation and our sure Refuge at the hour of death. Amen.
Most Sweet Jesus, Redeemer of the human race, look down upon us humbly prostrate before Thine Altar. We are Thine and Thine we wish to be; but to be more surely united with Thee, behold, each one of us freely consecrates himself today to Thy Most Sacred Heart. Many indeed have never known Thee: many too, despising Thy precepts, have rejected Thee. Have mercy on them all, most merciful Jesus, and draw them to Thy Sacred Heart. Be Thou King, O Lord, not only of the faithful who have never forsaken Thee, but also of the prodigal children who have abandoned Thee: grant that they may quickly return to their Father's house lest they die of wretchedness and hunger. Be Thou King of those who are deceived by erroneous opinions or whom discord keeps aloof, and call them back to the harbor of Truth and unity of the Faith, so that soon there may be one flock and one Shepherd. Be Thou King also of those who are still involved in the darkness of idolatry or Islamism, and refuse not to deliver them out of darkness into the light and the Kingdom of God. Turn Thine eyes of mercy toward the children of that race, once Thy chosen people. Of old they called down upon themselves the Blood of the Savior; may It now descend upon them a laver of redemption and of life. Grant, O Lord, to Thy Church assurance of freedom and immunity from harm, give peace and order to all nations, and make the earth resound from pole to pole with one cry: Praise to the Divine Heart that wrought our salvation; to It be glory and honor forever. Amen.
As an act of adoration and reparation, let us say five times, in honor of Our Lord's Five most Sacred Wounds:
MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS, THY KINGDOM COME!
To Jesus' Heart, all burning,
With fervent love for men,
My heart with fondest yearning,
Shall raise the joyful strain.
Refrain
While ages course along,
Blest be with loudest song.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus,
By every heart and tongue!
Too true I have forsaken,
Thy love by willful sin;
Yet now let me be taken,
Back by Thy grace again.
(Refrain)

(One of the following is prayed daily during June:)
Behold at thy feet, O Mother of Perpetual Help! a wretched sinner who has recourse to thee, and confides in thee. O Mother of Mercy! have pity on me. I hear thee called by all, the Refuge and the Hope of sinners; be then, my refuge and my hope. Assist me, for the love of Jesus Christ; stretch forth thy hand to a miserable fallen creature, who recommends himself to thee, and who devotes himself to thy service forever. I bless and thank Almighty God, Who in His mercy has given me this confidence in thee, which I hold to be a pledge of my eternal salvation. It is true, dearest Mother, that in the past I have miserably fallen into sin, because I had not recourse to thee. I know, that with thy help, I shall conquer. I know, too, that thou wilt assist me, if I recommend myself to thee; but I fear, dear Mother, that in time of danger, I may neglect to call on thee, and thus lose my soul. This grace then, I ask of thee, and this I beg, with all the fervor of my soul, that in all the attacks of Hell, I may ever have recourse to thee. O Mary! help me; O Mother of Perpetual Help, never suffer me to lose my God.
O Mother of Perpetual Help! grant that I may ever invoke thy most powerful name, which is the safeguard of the living and the salvation of the dying. O purest Mary! O sweetest Mary! Let thy name henceforth be ever on my lips. Delay not, O Blessed Lady, to help me whenever I call on thee; for in all my temptations, in all my needs, I shall never cease to call on thee, ever repeating thy Sacred Name, Mary! Mary! O what consolation, what sweetness, what confidence, what emotion fills my soul when I utter thy Sacred Name, or even only think of thee! I thank the Lord for having given thee, for my good, so sweet, so powerful, so lovely a name. But I will not be content with merely uttering thy name; let my love for thee prompt me ever to hail thee, Mother of Perpetual Help!
O Mother of Perpetual Help! Thou art the dispenser of all the gifts which God grants to us miserable sinners; and for this end He has made thee so powerful, so rich and so bountiful, in order that thou mayest help us in our misery. Thou art the advocate of the most wretched and abandoned sinners who have recourse to thee; come to my aid, dearest Mother, for I recommend myself to thee. In thy hands I place my eternal salvation, and to thee I entrust my soul. Count me among thy most devoted servants; take me under thy protection, and it is enough for me. For, if thou protect me, dear Mother, I fear no thing; not from my sins, because thou wilt obtain for me the pardon of them, nor from the devils, because thou art more powerful than all Hell together; nor even from Jesus, my Judge, because by one prayer from thee, He will be appeased. But one thing I fear, that in the hour of temptation, I may through negligence fail to have recourse to thee and thus perish miserably. Obtain for me, therefore, the pardon of my sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace to have recourse to thee, O Mother of Perpetual Help. (Hymn.)
O Holy Virgin Mary, whom we love to call Our Mother of Perpetual Help, show us that Thou dost merit this beautiful title by continually shielding the Church and its august Head with Thy protection. Through the infinite merits of Jesus Christ which we offer by Thee to the Eternal Father, do Thou obtain for sinners the grace of a sincere repentance; for the dying, the grace of a holy death; for the souls of our deceased relations, the grace of deliverance from the flames of Purgatory; and, for all of us the grace of pardon and abundant mercy. Amen.
O Mother of Perpetual Help, with the greatest confidence I come before Thy sacred Picture, in order to invoke Thine aid. Thou hast seen the wounds which Jesus has been pleased to receive for our sake; Thou hast seen the Blood of Thy Son flowing for our salvation; Thou knowest how Thy Son desires to apply to us the fruit of His Redemption. Behold I cast myself at Thy feet, and pray Thee to obtain for my soul the grace I stand so much in need of. O Mary, most loving of all mothers, obtain for me from the heart of Jesus, the Source of every good, this grace (here mention it). O Mother of Perpetual Help, Thou desirest our salvation far more than we ourselves; Thy Son has given Thee to us for our Mother; Thou hast Thyself chosen to be called Mother of Perpetual Help. I trust not in my merits but in Thy powerful intercession; I trust in Thy goodness; I trust in Thy motherly love. Mother of Perpetual Help, for the love Thou bearest to Jesus, Thy Son and my Redeemer, for the love of Thy great servant Alphonsus, for the love of my soul, obtain for me the grace I ask of Thee. Amen.
O Mother of Perpetual Help, numerous clients, continually surround Thy holy Picture, all imploring Thy mercy. All bless Thee as the assured help of the miserable; all feel the benefit of Thy maternal protection. With confidence, then, do I present myself before Thee in my misery. See, dear Mother, the many evils to which we are exposed; see how numerous are our wants. Trials and sorrows often depress us; reverses of fortune and privations are grievous, bring misery into our homes; everywhere we meet the cross. Have pity, compassionate Mother on us and our families; especially in this my necessity (here mention it). Help me, O my Mother, in my distress; deliver me from all my ills; or if it be the will of God that I should suffer still longer, grant that I may endure all with love and patience. This grace I expect of Thee with confidence, because Thou art our Perpetual Help. Amen.
O Dear Mother of Perpetual Help, behold how much I suffer from this my sickness. Together with the body my soul is also afflicted. I have not even strength to say a prayer as I ought to do. Nothing is able to give me any relief. Even the visit and compassion of my best friends does not give me any comfort. Hence, my courage begins to fail; impatience and sadness oppress my soul. In this my great distress I put all my trust in Thee, most tender of all mothers. Thy compassionate heart will certainly have pity on me; yes, most merciful Mother, Thou wilt not forget Thy poor, afflicted child. (Here mention sickness). Obtain, then, for me courage and strength, to accept all these trials from the hand of God with patience and resignation. If it is for the good of my soul, grant that I may recover my former health; but if it is the will of God that I should suffer still longer, or that this sickness should lead me to a better life, I am perfectly resigned, for I am sure that Thou, O loving Mother, wilt obtain for me grace to do whatever God demands of me. Amen.
O Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, Thou knowest so well the great value of an immortal soul. Thou knowest what it means, that every soul has been redeemed by the Blood of Thy Divine Son, Thou wilt not then despise my prayer, if I ask from Thee the conversion of a sinner who is rapidly hurrying on towards eternal ruin. Thou, O good and merciful Mother, knowest well his irregular life. Remember that Thou art the refuge of sinners, remember that God has given Thee power to bring about the conversion of even the most wretched sinners. All that has been done for his soul, has been unsuccessful; if Thou dost not come to his assistance, he will go from bad to worse. Obtain for him an effectual grace that he may be moved and brought back to God and his spiritual duties. Send him, if necessary, temporal calamities and trials, that he may enter into himself, and put an end to his sinful course. Thou, O most merciful Mother, hast converted so many sinners at the intercession of their friends, be, then, also moved by my prayer, and bring this unhappy soul to true conversion of heart. O Mother of Perpetual Help, show that Thou art the Advocate and Refuge of sinners. So I hope, so may it be. Amen.
Realizing, dear Mother Mary, that Thou art our Perpetual Help, not only in spiritual but likewise in temporal necessities, we approach Thee with submissive and humble hearts, because we have a childlike confidence in Thy power and goodness, beseeching Thee to assist us in our present financial worry. Owing to untoward circumstances which have arisen in our lives, we are in dire want and pecuniary embarrassment, being unable to meet our honest debts. We are not asking, dear Mother, for wealth, if possession of it, is not in accordance with the Holy Will of God; we merely beg for that assistance which will enable us to satisfy our pressing obligations. We believe, dear Mother, that Thou art the Queen of Heaven and of earth, and as such the instrument and special dispensation of Thy Son Jesus Christ; that Thou hast acquired by virtue of Thy wonderful dignity, a sweet jurisdiction over all creation. We believe that Thou art not only rich and bountiful, but extremely kind and generous to all Thy loving children. We plead with Thee then, dear Mother, to obtain for us the help we so urgently need in our present financial difficulty. We thank Thee, dear Lady, and promise to publish far and wide, the marvels of Thy glorious Picture. Amen.
O dear Virgin Mother, thou art recognized as the Perpetual Help of religious communities because thou dost form and prepare the hearts of thy chosen children who are called to imitate thy Divine Son unto perfection. Whilst on earth thy beloved Jesus, viewing the fruitful fields didst say: "The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few." How true are these words now. The harvest is ripe but the laborers are few. Direct, then, to our community devout and generous subjects who are actuated by a sincere desire to continue the sublime work of Redemption and publish everywhere the glories of Christ's kingdom. There are many pure and noble hearts which feel the divine attraction to the religious life but fear to take a forward step, because they see only the sacrifices but not the reward; they see the sword but not the divine and merciful hand that inflicts the wound; they see the cross but not the crown. Obtain for these souls the courage necessary to renounce the allurements of a wicked world that they may follow in the footsteps of thy adorable Son Jesus Christ. Hence we beseech thee, O Mother of Perpetual Help, to send to our community youthful hearts, animated with a desire for their own sanctification and the salvation of immortal souls. Lastly, dearest Lady, as thou dost know so well the value of a religious vocation, obtain for us thy devoted children the greatest of all gifts, the grace of final perseverance. Amen.
O holy Virgin Mary, who to inspire us with boundless confidence, hast been pleased to take the sweet name of Perpetual Help, I implore Thee to come to my aid always and everywhere; in my temptations; after my falls; in my difficulties; in all my miseries of life; and above all, at the hour of my death. Give me, loving Mother, the desire, nay more, the habit always to have recourse to Thee, for I feel assured that if I invoke Thee with fidelity Thou wilt be faithful to come to my assistance. Obtain for me then, this grace of graces, the grace to pray to Thee without ceasing, and with childlike prayer that I may ensure Thy perpetual help and final perseverance. O Mother of Perpetual Help, pray for me now and at the hour of my death. Amen.
Most Holy and Immaculate Virgin and my Mother, Mary, to thee, who art the Mother of my Lord, the Queen of the world, the Advocate, the Hope, and the Refuge of sinners, I have recourse today, I who am the most miserable of all. I render thee my most humble homage, O Great Queen, and I thank thee for all the graces thou hast obtained for me until now, and in particular for having saved me from Hell which I have so often deserved. I love thee, O most Amiable Lady; and, for the love which I bear thee, I promise to serve thee always and to do all in my power to make others also love thee. I place in thee all my hopes and I confide my salvation to thy care. Accept me for thy servant and receive me under thy mantle, O Mother of Mercy. And, since thou art so powerful with God, deliver me from all temptations, or, rather, obtain for me the strength to triumph over them until death. Of thee, I ask a perfect love for Jesus Christ; through thee I hope to die a good death. O my Mother, by the love which thou bearest to God, I beseech thee to help me at all times but especially at the last moment of my life. Leave me not, I beseech thee, until thou seest me safe in Heaven, blessing thee and singing thy mercies for all eternity. Amen; so I hope; so may it be.
